When a sofa is made properly, something interesting happens. It's better for the people sitting on it, better for the makers building it, and better for the planet it'll eventually return to. That's not a coincidence. That's the point.

The way we've always done it
We've made sofas this way from day one. Every material is chosen for three reasons: it lasts, it's kind to the planet, and there's nothing nasty in it. No foam, ever - we use the traditional upholstery techniques that have worked for generations, and the modern ones that genuinely make a sofa last longer. We're not precious about old versus new. We're precious about good versus not.
Bespoke requests
We build every sofa from scratch, in our workshop. Frame, filling, fabric, the lot. Nothing shipped in from somewhere else with our label stuck on it. Which means if you need something a bit different - a sofa bed, a chaise, a corner, an extra few inches to fit the wall - we can just make it. Same materials, same comfort, same sofa. Our story
Father & son on a mission to build sofas the right way.
Simon spent forty years making proper, handmade furniture. Greig grew up watching him do it. Years later, Greig bought a sofa from a high street brand. It collapsed within the first year. He started looking into why - and found an industry full of foam, hidden chemicals, and furniture designed to end up in landfill. Then it clicked. His dad had been doing it the right way for forty years. The answer wasn't new. It just needed sharing. So Slow was born. Made by hand, from natural materials, by people from our local community.

You place your order
We guide you through size, comfort and fabric choices to make sure everything is right before we begin. We take the time to get it right first time – because fewer returns is better for you and better for the planet.

We make it in our workshops
Every sofa is built by hand in our Yorkshire workshops, from natural materials we've chosen ourselves. Frame to final cover, made here - by people from our community, on benches they've worked at for years. It's a slower way to make a sofa. It's also a better one. Nothing's shipped in, nothing's outsourced, and nothing leaves the workshop until it's right. We'd rather make one properly, once.

Delivery into your chosen room
Your sofa is delivered fully assembled into the room of your choice. We plan access in advance and can remove your old sofa if needed, so delivery feels straightforward and stress-free.

Lifetime responsibility
We build our sofas to last for decades, and we stand behind them for life. From repairs to reupholstery, we are here to look after your sofa for years to come.
