Slow Terms & Conditions
Slow furniture is handmade in small batches using natural materials. We believe in building pieces that are comfortable, durable and designed to last for many years.Because our furniture is crafted by hand and uses natural fibres and fillings, small variations in colour, texture and feel are part of the character of each piece. The terms below explain how we work, how orders are placed, and what you can expect when purchasing furniture or services from Slow.

2. HOW THESE TERMS WORK
These terms apply to all furniture and services supplied by Slow.
By placing an order with us you confirm that you have read and accepted these terms.
A contract between you and us is formed once we confirm acceptance of your order.
If anything in these terms is unclear, please contact us and we will be happy to help.
3. OUR PRODUCTS
Our furniture is handmade in small batches using natural materials.
Because of this:
• small variations in colour, grain and texture may occur
• dimensions may vary slightly (tolerance ±2cm)
• natural fillings may soften slightly with use
These characteristics reflect the nature of handcrafted furniture and should not be considered faults.
Images on our website are for illustration purposes only and may differ slightly from the finished product.
4. NATURAL MATERIALS
Many of the materials used in our furniture are natural fibres and fillings.
These materials may vary slightly in colour, texture or scent and may soften with use. These characteristics are normal and reflect the natural materials used in the construction of the furniture.
Natural fabrics may also fade gradually when exposed to prolonged sunlight.
5. FABRIC SELECTION
We recommend ordering fabric samples before placing an order.
Fabrics supplied by external mills may vary slightly between batches.
Where customers supply their own fabric, we cannot guarantee the durability or suitability of that fabric and cannot accept responsibility for defects in customer-supplied materials.
Additional fabric may sometimes be required depending on pattern matching or cutting requirements.
6. MADE-TO-ORDER FURNITURE
Most of our sofas and chairs are produced to order based on the customer’s chosen configuration, dimensions, fabric and finish.
Because each piece is produced specifically for the customer, changes or cancellations may not be possible once production has begun.
If cancellation is requested after production has started we reserve the right to retain the deposit or charge reasonable costs already incurred.
Customers are responsible for confirming that the dimensions and configuration of the furniture are suitable for their space before production begins.
7. PRICING & PAYMENT
All prices shown include VAT unless otherwise stated.
For new furniture orders, payment is required in full prior to production commencing unless otherwise agreed.
Production will normally begin once payment has been received and all order specifications have been confirmed.
For reupholstery and restoration services:
• 75% of the estimated cost is payable before work begins
• The remaining 25% balance is payable one week prior to delivery or collection
Work will not normally begin until the initial payment has been received.
If payment is not received when due, we reserve the right to delay production or delivery until payment has been received.
Pricing Errors
If we discover an error in the price of a product or service we will contact you before proceeding with the order.
8. ORDER CONFIRMATION & PRODUCTION
Before production begins we may confirm the details of your order with you. This may include the configuration, dimensions, fabric selection and other specifications relevant to the furniture being produced.
Customers are responsible for reviewing order confirmations carefully and notifying us promptly if any details are incorrect.
Production will normally begin once all order details have been confirmed.
Changes requested after production has begun may result in additional costs and extended lead times.
9. LEAD TIMES
Our furniture is made in small batches by our workshop team.
Typical lead times are approximately 8–12 weeks, although this may vary depending on workshop demand, fabric availability and the complexity of the order.
Lead times are provided as estimates rather than guaranteed delivery dates.
We will always aim to keep customers informed of progress and notify them if timelines change.
10. DELIVERY
Once your furniture is ready we will contact you to arrange a delivery date.
Because deliveries are planned around multiple orders and locations, delivery dates and times are estimates rather than guarantees.
We primarily deliver within the United Kingdom, although delivery to the Republic of Ireland or other locations may sometimes be arranged on request.
Additional delivery charges may apply.
11. ACCESS REQUIREMENTS
Customers are responsible for ensuring that furniture can be safely delivered into the property.
This includes confirming that furniture will fit through:
• doorways
• hallways
• staircases
• lifts
If delivery cannot be completed due to restricted access or insufficient preparation, additional delivery charges may apply.
12. DELIVERY DELAYS & STORAGE
Once furniture is ready we will contact you to arrange delivery.
Customers are expected to accept delivery within a reasonable timeframe.
If delivery is delayed at the customer’s request beyond 14 days, we reserve the right to charge reasonable storage fees and additional transport costs.
13. FAILED DELIVERIES
If delivery cannot be completed because:
• no one is present at the property
• access is not possible
• the property is not ready to receive the furniture
We may charge for additional delivery attempts and associated transport costs.
14. COMFORT EXPECATIONS
Comfort is personal and can vary from one person to another.
Furniture displayed in showrooms may feel softer due to regular use. Newly made furniture may initially feel firmer and will soften naturally as the materials settle over time.
This does not constitute a fault.
15. CARE & MAINTENANCE
Natural fillings such as feathers, wool and latex require occasional care.
Seat cushions should be regularly plumped and rotated to maintain their shape.
Softening of cushions, compression of fillings, or changes in the feel of seating over time are part of the natural behaviour of these materials and are not covered under the frame guarantee.
Where cushions or fillings eventually need renewing, we are always happy to help refurbish or replace these elements so the furniture can continue to be enjoyed for many years.
16. REUPHOLSTERY & RESTORATION SERVICES
In addition to manufacturing new furniture, we may provide reupholstery, restoration and repair services.
These services involve working with existing furniture supplied by the customer.
The scope of work will be agreed prior to work commencing.
17. REUPHOLSTERY ESTIMATES
Estimates for reupholstery work may be provided based on photographs or initial inspection.
In some cases the full condition of the furniture may only become clear once work has begun.
If previously hidden damage or structural issues are discovered we will contact the customer before proceeding with additional work.
Additional costs may apply where extra work is required.
18. CUSTOMER-SUPPLIED FURNITURE
Customers are responsible for ensuring that furniture supplied for reupholstery is suitable for restoration.
Where structural repairs are required before reupholstery can proceed, we will advise the customer.
We reserve the right to decline work where furniture is not suitable for restoration.
19. CUSTOMER SUPPLIED FABRIC
Where customers provide their own fabric:
• we cannot guarantee the durability or performance of the fabric
• we cannot accept responsibility for faults in customer-supplied fabric
Customers should ensure sufficient fabric is supplied to complete the work.
20. REUPHOLSTERY CANCELLATIONS
Once work has begun on a reupholstery project it may not be possible to cancel the work.
If cancellation occurs after work has started we may charge for labour and materials already used.
21. EXISTING FURNITURE COLLECTIONS
Reupholstery involves working with existing furniture which may have experienced previous wear.
While we take care during restoration, we cannot guarantee the condition of internal components that are not replaced as part of the agreed work.
22. COLLECTION & DELIVERY FOR REUPHOLSTERY
Where collection and delivery is arranged for reupholstery work, additional delivery charges may apply.
Customers must ensure safe access for collection and delivery.
23. STORAGE FOR FURNITURE
If furniture is not collected within 30 days of completion, we reserve the right to charge reasonable storage fees.
24. ABANDONED FURNITURE
If furniture remains uncollected for an extended period and we are unable to contact the customer despite reasonable attempts, we reserve the right to dispose of the item in order to recover outstanding costs.
25. CONSUMER RIGHTS
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be:
• as described
• fit for purpose
• of satisfactory quality
26. FRAME GUARANTEE & REPAIRS
We build our furniture to last.
The internal frames of our new upholstery pieces are covered by a lifetime guarantee for the original purchaser. If a structural fault occurs in the frame, we will assess the issue and, where we determine that the problem results from a manufacturing defect or fair wear and tear, we will repair the frame free of charge. This guarantee applies only to the original owner of the furniture and is not transferable. The lifetime frame guarantee applies only to the structural frame of the furniture and does not cover:
• seat cushions or fillings
• upholstery fabrics or covers
• feather, wool or latex fillings
• normal softening of cushions with use
27. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these terms.
We are not responsible for losses that are not foreseeable or arise from misuse, neglect or failure to follow care guidance.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
28. DATA PROTECTION
We will only use your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
29. GOVERNING LAW
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes arising in connection with these terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
30. UPDATES TO THESE TERMS
These terms may be updated from time to time. The latest version will always be available on our website.
