Home Our quality
Handmade to order
Each of our sofas and chairs are handmade to order, using techniques that have been passed down through generations. Unlike mass-produced furniture, where handcrafted touches are too readily stripped away, at Slow you’ll always be able to spot our unique details such as the fan-pleated roll arm on the Kalkaber sofa or the distinctive piping detail of the Wharfe arm.
We consciously design each piece in our collection with longevity and quality in mind. Employing a team of highly skilled local people, we’re focussed on supporting the local economy and are committed to sharing our expertise in furniture-making by training the next generation of artisans through our internships programme.
We build our frames from kiln-dried beech hardwood, with the addition of precision-cut plywood to provide extra support in places. This means no warping, no cracking and no splitting. We’re so confident in our frames that we offer a lifetime guarantee and it goes without saying that the wood we use is sustainably sourced.
We ensure that the wood we use is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, meaning that our materials can always be traced back to a forest that’s been responsibly managed to support biodiversity and sustainability. In fact, ours is supplied by our local timber yard.
