Slow is different. We don’t give a lifetime guarantee on our frames without offering a service to keep them recovered and cared for. We don’t hide chipboard under fabric. We don’t rely on fire-treated interliners or chemical finishes - our materials perform naturally. We don’t use foam - not the standard kind, and not the so-called bio-foam either. Both start with fossil fuels and end up been incinerated, so we’ve removed them entirely.

Frames
From our workshops in the Yorkshire dales
Our frames are designed from years of hands-on upholstery experience. After rebuilding thousands of sofas, we’ve learned exactly where and how they fail. We use sustainably sourced beech for strength, and poplar ply ends that lock into the frame — a structural innovation developed through years of refining how a sofa should truly be built.
Cushions
Natural comfort that lasts
Each cushion combines a natural latex core with a feather and down wrap. Latex gives long-lasting structure and spring, while the feather blend adds softness and that deep, sink-in comfort. Pure feather cushions lose volume and shape over time, needing constant care. Ours don’t. The latex core keeps the cushion’s form and support for decades, so the comfort lasts as long as the sofa itself.

UPHOLSTERY
Built with natural layers
Our frames are layered by hand with jute webbing, hessian, and rubberised horsehair - traditional materials chosen for strength and breathability, then wrapped in organic wool and cotton for softness and comfort. There are no glues, foams, or sprays; every layer is secured mechanically, not chemically. For those who prefer an animal-free build, we offer a plant-based coir alternative with the same structure and longevity.
FABRICS
Natural inside and out
We source fabrics from trusted British and European mills, favouring natural fibres like linen, cotton, and wool. Many of our fabrics are free from added flame-retardant chemicals, including Performance Wool, Vintage Linen, House fabric and Bouclé Wool.
Our Performance Velvet is inherently fire-retardant - the treatment is added during the fibre extrusion process, before the yarn is spun. This means the flame-retardant properties are built into the fibre itself, making the finish permanently inert and safe for the home.
