Fire retardant-free fabrics

We’ve spent years prototyping and refining options for clients who want to avoid fire-retardant and stain-resistant chemical finishes, while still meeting UK fire safety regulations. The approaches we use have also been independently FIRA tested.

Safety matters. But so does what you sit on every single day. Chemical-free mattresses have been around for a long time – we’re here to do the same for the sofa industry.

These fabrics in our range are free from added fire-retardant and stain-resistant chemical finishes:

Natural Weave – linen and cotton, woven in Yorkshire
House Linen – 100% linen, made locally in Yorkshire
House Wool – 100% wool, woven in Yorkshire
Wool & Flax – wool and harvested flax, woven in Britain
Wool Bouclé – woven in Scotland
Soft Linen
Vintage Linen – woven in Italy
Cotton velvet – 100% cotton, made in Italy

Everyday Weave also has no added fire retardant, but carries a PFAS-free water-repellent finish.

These fabrics achieve their performance through their natural fibres and weave, and through the way we build the sofa beneath the top cover – a naturally fire-resistant wool barrier, rather than chemical treatments.
