Hard-wearing, everyday fabrics
If your sofa needs to cope with family life, pets and regular use, fabric choice matters just as much as what sits underneath.
We select a small range of fabrics specifically for durability, resilience and ease of living – while still working with our natural upholstery build of rubberised horsehair, wool, cotton and natural latex.

Good options to start with include:
Performance Wool
Performance Velvet
Performance Velvet
These fabrics achieve their performance through their fibres and weave structure, and the way we construct the sofa beneath the top cover – rather than relying solely on heavy chemical finishes. Performance Wool is naturally breathable, hard-wearing, and free from fire-retardant chemical finishes. Performance Velvet is selected because its fire-retardant properties are introduced at the point the fabric is created at a polymer level, meaning they are locked into the fibre rather than added later as a surface chemical treatment (often referred to as an inert FR).
We can also supply 100% natural velvets if you prefer. These are typically made from cotton and have a softer, more delicate handle, but you would be trading some durability compared to our performance velvet, which uses recycled polyester for strength and longevity.
We also work with fabric houses such as Camira, who offer highly durable fabrics made from flax and other natural fibres. Just drop us a message and we can guide you through the best choices, including additional colour-ways where available.
