While the Coft takes inspiration from the iconic Howard sofa, with its softly scrolled arms and generous, inviting seat, what sets it apart is everything inside. Instead of synthetic foams and sprayed chemicals, we use only certified natural materials: GOLS-certified natural latex, GOTS-certified organic wool and cotton, FSC-certified hardwood, and traditional rubberised hair. These aren’t just labels, they ensure our sofas are breathable, biodegradable, and built to last. The natural latex core cushions won’t sag or crumble like foam; they’re springy, mould-resistant, and hold their shape for over 20 years.

No chemicals. No compromise.

Because our materials are inherently safe and durable, there’s no need for added flame-retardant chemicals. It’s a cleaner, more responsible way to build furniture, healthier for your home and better for the planet. Product description

A timeless design inspired by the traditional English Howard sofa. The classic silhouette has a high back with deep plush cushions, offering unbridled sink-in comfort whether lying or lounging. Every detail is considered: the frame is carefully upholstered in layers of organic wool and GOTS-certified cotton, natural, breathable, and free from chemicals. These are among the finest materials available, chosen not only for how they feel, but for how well they wear.

Frame

Hand-built frame made from solid kiln-dried beech wood and eco-ply, sustainably sourced from Forest Stewardship Council-certified European forests. The durable frame has been glued, screwed, doweled, and then strengthened with screws for stability and longevity.

Fabric

Our sofas and armchairs are hand-upholstered in over 70 premium fabrics, including our natural and eco-fabrics. Prefer to use your own? It's not a problem; email us at info@slowsofa.com, and we can discuss it.

All of the frames for our sofas and chairs come with a lifetime guarantee as standard.

Cushions

Each seat cushion blends GOLS-certified natural latex with a layer of extra-soft feather, offering lasting support and indulgent comfort. Naturally breathable and resilient, latex is 20x more durable than foam, and resistant to mould, mildew, and dust mites. It’s also recyclable and biodegradable. Cushions are reversible and low-maintenance, designed to be flipped, fluffed, and enjoyed for years. Back cushions are generously filled with a feather-and-down blend, all hand-stitched in our Yorkshire workshop. For vegan alternatives, we offer fibre fillings made from recycled plastic bottles.

Order a selection of free swatch samples to experience our fabrics at home. All of our materials are carefully sourced, producing the highest quality fabric with as little environmental impact as possible. Our natural fabrics are all biodegradable and manufactured without the use of chemicals or pesticides. Many of our man-made fabrics are produced from recycled materials diverted from landfill.

Reupholster your Slow sofa

Our reupholstery service breathes new life into well-worn pieces. At any point, you can return your sofa to us and we’ll strip it, recycle your old material and reupholster in your new choice of fabric. We mean it when we say, a sofa is for life.

Delivery & returns

Production

Your sofa or chair will be made to order in our workshops in the Yorkshire dales. We'll send you updates along the way as our team of makers bring your piece to life.

Delivery

Once your order is ready, we’ll contact you to schedule a delivery appointment. Delivery takes place Monday to Saturday, nationwide, and costs £150 per sofa or chair, with no hidden fees. Upon order, we can provide an accurate delivery timeframe. Delivery is automatically calculated at checkout based on the number of items in your order.

Hassle-free returns

We want our refunds policy to be as simple as possible. If you’re not happy with your sofa, for whatever reason, drop us a message within 14 days of receiving it and we’ll arrange for a courier to come and take it off your hands.
